Osinbajo Set To Reshuffle Ministerial Cabinet, As Sick Buhari Gives Marching Order To Sack Amaechi, Fashola, Others

Emerging report, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari, has given Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, a marching order to reshuffle his cabinet.
Recall, that Osinbajo on Tuesday, traveled to London, where he met with Buhari behind closed doors.
Osinbajo, who has since returned to the country, in the early hours of Wednesday, left for London at about 3:25 p.m., local time, shortly after presiding over the Quarterly Presidential Business Forum, which held at the Presidential Villa.
A reliable Presidency source, confirmed that Buhari is not comfortable with some of his close Aides, who have undermined the Acting President in his absence, and may have handed him clear instructions to kick them out of the government.
The source said that the visit of the Acting President, was at the instance of Buhari, who wanted to assure Osinbajo of his support and confidence, to carry on with the ship of state.
Post-Nigeria learnt that Osinbajo is expected to carry out major reforms in the government, any moment from now
“We expect even a minor cabinet shake-up, as the Acting President returns. Those not loyal to this government, and particularly those sabotaging the system, have already been identified”, the source added.

The source stated that the Acting President has gotten the nod of the President, to swear-in the two Ministerial nominees already confirmed by the Senate, and make some changes in the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
The source added that, Buhari and Osinbajo discussed the fate of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, whose stay in office has worsened the frosty relationship between the Acting President and the Senate.
Magu’s fate is still uncertain, as at last night, according to the source.
The visit of the Acting President is coming barely 24-hours after the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Monday, alluded to the immediate return of her husband.
She declared that as soon as the President returns, he will chase out from his kingdom, those she called ‘Hyenas and Jackals’, taking advantage of the President’s ill-health and his absence from the country.
On her Facebook page, Aisha Buhari wrote that: “God has answered the prayers of the weaker animals.
“The Hyenas and the Jackals will soon be sent out of the kingdom.
“We strongly believe in the prayers and support of the weaker animals. Long live the weaker animals, long live Nigeria.”
Aisha who left the country a week ago to join her husband in London, has since remained there.

Court Remands Two For Alleged Murder Of UNIOSUN Student

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Tuesday remanded two persons in an Ilesa prison for alleged murder of a University of Osun (UNIOSUN) student.

The accused persons, Isiaq Yusuf Jafariya, 49 and Abdulkazeem Adeoti, 55, are facing a three count-charge of conspiracy, murder and unlawful possession of human parts.

The prosecutor, ASP Mireti Wilson, told the court that the two committed the offence on June 26 at about 9:p.m at Oke Baale in Osogbo.

Wilson said that the accused persons conspired among themselves to kill Timileyin Oluwafemi Sonibare with a pestle and cut his head, hands and other parts. He that said the victim was astudent of UNIOSUN until his death.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 324, 319 and 242 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.

The two accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, murder and unlawful possession.

The defence counsel, Mr Kazeem Badmus, prayed the magistrate to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.

Mrs Mary Awodele, the Magistrate, however, declined to grant the accused bail dueto the magnitude of the offence they were alleged to have committed.

She ordered the accused persons to be remanded in Ilesa prison until July 25, when the case would come up for mention. (NAN)

APGA crisis: Join me to rebuild our party, Agbaso tells Obiano

Chief Willie Obiano
ABA— National Chairman of  All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Martin Agbaso, has extended a hand of fellowship to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and other stakeholders of the party, to join him to rebuild the party in line with the vision of its founding fathers.
Agbaso, who was reacting to the verdict of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, affirming his position as national chairman of the party, said APGA has lost focus and needs the support of all members to get it back on track as a national party.

The national chairman, who spoke through the party’s acting national publicity secretary, Prince Ukaegbu, said APGA was being rebuilt from what he described as Oye’s visionless administration, which led to the exodus of eminent members of the party, including the heir to the Ojukwu dynasty, Emeka, who abandoned APGA for UPP. He described the October 5, 2016, decision of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, to sack the former national chairman, Victor Oye as the turning point for APGA’s rebirth, stressing that the party has been returned to the masses. “I enjoin Governor Willie Obiano and other stakeholders of the party to join me rebuild APGA in line with the vision of its founding fathers. With the verdict of the Court of Appeal affirming me as the national chairman, APGA has been returned to the people. There is no winner, no vanquish; APGA won. With the final resolution of this impediment, the NWC of our party will meet to roll out in the coming days programme and timetable leading to the nomination of our candidate for the  November 18th  gubernatorial poll in Anambra state. We will ensure free and credible primaries, there will be no automatic ticket to any aspirant, “ He commended the judges who sat on the Appeal for refusing to be deceived by the antics of the detractors of the party who had continued to propagate the lies that Agbaso ascended the leadership of APGA through a donation of an order of mandamus of an Enugu High court, stressing that Oye was lawfully removed in a duly convened meeting in line with the extant provisions of the Constitution of APGA. Agbaso further commended the membership and supporters of the party for their patience and support while the crisis lasted.

Aisha’s comments: Senate, Afenifere, others express concern

LAGOS—The metaphoric depiction of hyenas and jackals riding roughshod over other animals is reflective of a divided Presidency, the Senate, Afenifere, and stakeholders from across the country said, yesterday.
Among those who joined the Senate and Afenifere to comment on the metaphorical anecdote shared between First Lady Aisha Buhari and Senator Shehu Sani were erstwhile presidential spokesman, Mr. Akin Oshuntokun; human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and some members of the House of Representatives. They spoke in reaction to the Facebook exchange between Senator Sani and Mrs. Buhari. Sani had in his first comments, noted that in the absence of the lion, hyenas and jackals had taken over the kingdom, trampling the lesser animals with the hope that the sleeping lion does not return. Mrs. Buhari had responded to the comment on Monday,  saying the hyenas and the jackals would be sorely disappointed as she said the lion would soon return and throw them out of the kingdom.

By last night, Mrs. Buhari’s comments on Facebook had drawn more than 1,700 likes and 400 comments. Reacting to the brouhaha, Senate spokesman, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, told Vanguard, yesterday, that Mrs. Buhari was in a good position to analyse the situation in the country and that the use of the animals as metaphors to describe the scenario was most appropriate. He said: “The metaphor of hyena and jackal as used by the wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, is right and it represents the reality on the ground. Jackal is the good hunter, while Hyena is the bad hunter. Some people in the government are in this group, as enunciated by the wife of the President; the hyena waits for the very good hunter to steal the food from them. Presidency needs to put its house in order—Afenifere On its part, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, said the exchange showed a divided Presidency and called on it to put its house in order. Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yinka Odumakin who spoke for the group, said:  “It is clear we have a divided Presidency, given the statement of the First Lady and snippets that have been coming from the villa. They have to put their house in order, so they can govern the country and create stability and confidence in the system.” It shows disharmony, division within the Presidency —Osuntokun In his comments, Mr. Akin Osuntokun, who served as Political Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo, said the remarks showed disharmony within the Presidency. He said: “Long before now, everyone knew that there was disharmony and division within the Presidency. That is the meaning of the crisis over the non-confirmation of the appointment of acting EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu. “A situation where fellow security staff of the President write to contradict the recommendation of their principal is proof. What is going on with this Presidency is beyond comprehension, it borders on the ridiculous and the primitive.” Chief Ozekhome, on his part, said the outburst showed that Mrs. Buhari was fed up with the antics of what she described as a powerful clique that had succeeded in hijacking her husband and the Presidency. “What she meant by that metaphor is that a lot of meddlesome interlopers are surrounding her husband in the form of a powerful cabal. In any kingdom, there can be only one king or oba or emir. She is saying that in the fullness of time, the head of the kingdom would return to take charge and the interlopers would be scattered.” Buhari is indeed surrounded by selfish people —Tsav On his part, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, a retired commissioner of police said: “What she has said justifies the reports about the power struggle in the Presidency. I admire her courage. A woman who loves her husband will not allow her husband to be destroyed. Buhari came in with good intentions, but he is surrounded by people who don’t have his kind of vision.’’ Kingsley Chinda, PDP, Obio Akpor Fed Constituency, Rivers State on his part, urged the first lady as the mother of the nation to embrace both the jackals and the hyenas because they are all her children. Abiodun Famurewa, APC, Osun on his part, said the first lady’s declaration “was a statement of fact because going by what we have seen since 2015 as some people hijacked power. He said:  “She knows that some of them in the corridors of government were not even members of the party; they surprisingly came from nowhere and hijacked power from the husband.  I want to believe she is sending a signal to those strange people.’’

RRS nabs two ex-convicts for robbery in Lagos

The operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected robbers who specialise in attacking and robbing motorists and commuters in Mile 2 area of Lagos state.
The suspects, Sunday Chukwunweike (26) and Emmanuel Friday (28), were arrested after mid – night on Mile 2 Bridge in Lagos after robbing a breakdown truck’s driver, Yinusa Salami, alongside two other accomplices, Silas and Sule, both still at large of a sum of N45,000 and his mobile phone.
In his confession, one of the suspects, Emmanuel, a secondary school dropout, who later became a bus conductor in the area said, “I was in the company of my friends when we saw the driver. He was coming from Apapa. He stopped on the bridge to pick somebody.
It was the elderly ones among us that robbed him. I thought they were going to drop some money for us to eat when we approached him.
It was Silas and Sule that dipped their hands in his pockets and brought out some money. They took the money and the phone and we went our way.
They later told us that it was N40,000: 00 they took in his pocket. Because they are stronger than us, they gave my colleague and I N10,000:00 to share.
We were hungry, that was what made us follow them. I took to the street after dropping out of school to fend for myself.
Although, I have participated in so many crimes such as inter-group fight, hemp smoking, pick pocketing and the rest, I have never been involved in robbery or threatening people with gun or dangerous objects.”
Emmanuel added, “I have been to the prison twice, one in 2013 where I spent seven months and also in 2016 where I bagged 3 months after engaging in street fighting.”
He continued: “Silas and Sule forcefully collected a sum of N45,000 from the truck driver and gave both me and Chukwunweike N10,000 as share from the loot. We went back to our usual joint before the truck driver led men of the Rapid Response Squad to arrest us”.
On his part, Chukwunweike, an ex-convict, confessed to the crime but blamed his wrong doing to the hard life which he had expose himself to on the street. “I came back from prison after spending 3 months but here I am again in another mess”.
The truck driver, Yinusa Salami stated that he stopped at the bridge to pick up his brother who was waiting for him there. “I was coming from Apapa and heading to Osun. I wanted to assist my brother who was equally going to Osun State. I got to the bridge and I alighted from the truck, that was when I saw four of them.
I was about giving them some money when they seized my arms, before dragging me to the ground and forcefully collected all the money in my pocket totalling N45,000 claiming they control the area and nothing can happen afterwards.
I approached men of RRS stationed at the other side of the bridge to report the incident. They followed me to track the boys. That was when we saw the two of them trying to split their own share of the money. They were arrested there but the other two guys escaped.”
The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations and prosecution.

Kogi Government Wasted N12m To React To My Comment, Says Ekweremadu

Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; and Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Tuesday condemned the Kogi State Government for its alleged roles in the ongoing process to recall the lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye, from
the National Assembly.

Both of them specifically criticised the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kogi State, Mr. Ibrahim Sani Muhammed, for
criticising the Senate as lacking constitutional backing to stop Melaye’s recall.

Ekweremadu, while raising a point of order at the plenary on Tuesday, referred the lawmakers to a three-page advertorial by Muhammed, in
which the commissioner criticised his last week submissions at the Senate on Melaye’s recall.

The senator noted the every page of the advertorial cost about N700,000, adding “for this alone, they spent about Nm and I understand that it is in about five other papers so we are looking at about N12m spent to responding to my comment.

“I expect the Attorney-General, instead of displaying his ignorance, to simply call me and I will educate him on the position of the law,”
he said.

The Deputy Senate President condemned the Kogi State Government for using a three-page advertorial in newspapers to reply him. He said the money could have been used to pay part of the salaries owed workers in the state.

“Meanwhile, want I said was supposed to be privileged; that is what the law says. I would have ordinarily ignored him but I will like to
point out his final paragraph so that I will put everything in the right perspective,” he said.

In the paragraph, Muhammed had stated that “the Senate has no role whatsoever in the recall exercise than to receive the certificate of
under the hand of the Chairman of INEC, stating that the provisions of Section 69 of the Constitution have been complied with.” He also cited Section 68.

Ekweremadu further said in part, “I stand by what I said the other day and I still like to take him to Section 68(2) of the Constitution to
show the role of the Senate, if he is saying we don’t have any role. He surreptitiously refused to cite sub-section 2 or, probably out of
ignorance, he did not put Section 68(2).

“I don’t know how he came to the conclusion that we do not have any role to play. I stand by my position that when INEC is through with
any recall process, they must write the Senate President who will read it to us and we must be satisfied that the provisions of Section 69 in
reference to recall have been fully complied with.

“I pity the people of Kogi State who hired his kind of attorney-general. It is unfortunate that they are paying a public servant and he is unable to do a simple work of looking at the Constitution.

“Let me also emphasise that this Section 68(2) is not part of the amendments we have made since 1999; this has been the original provision of the Constitution; we did not invent it and it has nothing to do with Dino. We inherited it since 1999.

“So, for him not to know about it; I don’t know where he went to law school, anyway. If he had been properly educated, he should have been
conversant with the basic provisions of the Constitution. I also don’t know his age at the bar but, apparently, I know that I am his senior at the bar and I expect him to show some respect to his senior. That is what we were taught at the law school.”

Saraki, in his remarks, expressed concern over “the calibre of people put in very serious positions in government.” He stated that the Constitution was clear on the recall process.

“What is even more disturbing and irresponsible is how they have spent over N10m on adverts,” he added.

The Senate President accused the state government of culpability in the move to recall Melaye due to the interest it had showed in the process.

He said, “It is an issue that I don’t see the involvement of government in it. This even shows that it is the government that truly behind this entire process; when a government can take an advert on an issue like this.

“I think, sincerely, there is a necessary need for some of the people who are appointed or elected into positions to show some level of responsibility. This is a simple matter that is stated in the Constitution. It is very unfortunate for the people of Kogi State.”

Why APC May Lose 2019 General Elections — Timi Frank

Timi Frank, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted possible defeat for the ruling party during the 2019 general elections.
Frank at a press conference in Abuja said that his fears over the possible loss of power to another political party by the APC stem from the leadership style of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who, he said, has ran the party aground.
Frank called the press conference to express his minds over the loss of the Osun West Senatorial bye-election by the party last Saturday.
At the press conference, Frank noted that there is a need for Acting President Yemi Oshibajo to immediately convene an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party with a view to saving the party from total collapse.
A former member of the APC, Ademola Adeleke, younger brother to the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he disputed the APC primary, and went ahead to win the election on Saturday to the surprise of the APC leaders.
Timi Frank, who could not hide his bitterness over the circumstances leading to the defection of Adeleke and the eventual loss of the election by APC, said emphatically that the loss was the handiwork of Chief Odigie-Oyegun who, he said, abandoned all democratic tenets in the process of selection of the APC candidate for the election leading to the protest vote by the electorate against the party.
He accused the national chairman of jettisoning all structures put in place by the party to select its candidate for the election, as he added that unless Odigie-Oyegun is removed from office as soon as possible, crushing defeat will likely be inflicted on the party in subsequent elections even up to 2019.
“I expect Odigie-Oyegun to have resigned by now after the defeat of the APC in the Osun West Senatorial bye-election, but I know that he will not. Odigie-Oyegun caused our defeat in the election because of his failure as a leader.
“(Ademola) Adeleke left the APC for the PDP because of the inconsistency of the party leadership and came back to defeat the party.
“If they knew what they were doing, Adeleke would not have left the APC and we would have been celebrating another victory now.
“The APC ticket would have been given to him because of the death of his brother. It has happened before because when Okadigbo died, his seat was given to his wife. Some of us actually suggested that the ticket be given to him.
“Unfortunately, the APC candidate was disqualified by both the screening and appeal committee set up by the party for not resigning his position as a commissioner in the state. But the party rejected their report and went ahead to clear him.
“Odigie-Oyegun’s illegality brought us to this level. It is a shame on the APC to lose that bye-election in a state where it has a sitting governor. If Odigie-Oyegun fails to resign, APC will continue to face defeat under his leadership”.
On the chances of the party ahead of future elections, Frank said, “With the manner in which we are going now, I do not see victory for us in 2019”.
The APC chieftain said further that the failure of leadership is responsible for the crisis in the APC in Kogi and other states.
He urged the Kogi State governor to rather direct his anger at the party chairman and not to Senator Dino Melaye, noting that the problems bedeviling the party in Kogi and some other states were as a result of the poor leadership being provided for the party at the national level.
“If there is anybody that should be recalled in our party, it is Odigie-Oyegun and not Dino. Whether we like it or not, Dino is a great asset to our party. He is one of the best senators in our party.
“Acting President Osinbajo should immediately direct the party leadership to call an emergency stakeholders’ meeting to resolve the crisis rocking the party.
“The party cannot continue to impose candidates on the people. We must not repeat the mistakes of the PDP. As it stands today, APC is the biggest enemy of itself. We have crisis at all levels of the party. Instead of the crisis being resolved, it is getting worse and spreading by the day.
“The party needs to restructure and restrategise if it wants to survive. The party has held meetings only twice since it came into government and yet we want to win elections in 2019. How can we win election like that?
“How are we sure that we will not be kicked out of government in 2019 because we have not been able to keep to our promise?
“Odigie-Oyegun’s leadership is very unserious. APC governors need to lead the way to restructure the party”, he added.
