Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, is to present a cheque worth #2.8 million for scholarship award to 56 tertiary students across the 28 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos West Senatorial District.
Senator Solomon Adeola, who is representing Lagos West Senatorial District is the sponsor of the scholarship scheme.
He told newsmen in Abuja that the programme would run yearly for four years. Adeola equally told newsmen in Abuja that he is equally donating 10 transformers, 28 boreholes in 28 LCDAs and 500 lifejackets for riverine communities.
"I am also empowering many constituents with grinding machines, freezers, and helmets among other items," the Senator said.
The lawmaker disclosed that the event will take place at a town hall meeting.
Explaining further, he said, he had earlier in the year purchased and distributed 500 free JAMB forms for indigent students pursuing tertiary education while 250 chairs and benches would be equally distributed to secondary schools in his district that is well over half of the population of the megacity of Lagos State.
