Manchester United have taken the decision to sack Louis van Gaal some two years after he took over at Old Trafford but have the club's hierarchy made the right call?
The
Red Devils performed well below expectations in the 2015-16 campaign,
finishing in fifth place in the Premier League table with Saturday's FA
Cup win the only real positive.
Jose Mourinho has been heavily
linked with stepping straight in to replace the Dutchman, with Van Gaal
having been given the boot despite a year being left to run on what was a
three-year contract with the club.
The pressure has been heavy
on Van Gaal's shoulders all season long and with Mourinho having been
out of work since his sacking by Chelsea back in December, the former
Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has been under even further
scrutiny.
The Dutchman having guided United back into the
Champions League in his first season prior to his team's struggles in
2015-16, where they were knocked out of the group stage of Europe's
premier club competition and suffered a Europa League exit at the hands
of Liverpool.
So what do YOU think? Are United right to have
sacked the 64-year-old or are expectations simply too high and he
deserved more time to put things right at the club? Have your say by
voting in our poll below!
