The man, Lekan Shone, who allegedly killed his wife, Ronke in Lagos state, has allegedly gone on hunger strike.
Lekan is accused of beating his wife and mother of two, Ronke, to death at their home in Egbeda.
The suspect who turned himself in to the police on Monday is being
detained at the State Criminal Investigation & Intelligence
Department, SCIID, Panti.
As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives also visited scene
of the crime at 5, Tiemo Crescent, off Awori Street, Ile-Epo Alhaji,
accompanied by Lekan, who wore a forlorn look.
The police reportedly conducted close to four hours search of the
flat, scrutinizing every object and taking photographs where necessary,
but the outcome of the search could not be immediately ascertained.
Meanwhile the police yesterday conducted autopsy on the deceased at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, noted that the
result will be ready in two days, confirming that the suspect has
refused to eat since he arrived at his detention place, insisting that
he wanted to die.
