We are obliged to draw the attention of all the good people of Ogun State to a recent statement credited to Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, where he boastfully claimed to know those who would not succeed him in 2019. This, we submit, is totally unacceptable .To us, the unwarranted statement specifically made by the Governor should serve as a timely hint to Ogun people that Sen. Amosun, sensing he has lost popularity and goodwill , plans diabolical rigging aimed at sabotaging the will of the people. We uphold the strong believe that every contestant should have required levelled playing ground to test his or her popularity and acceptability.
One wonders how a sitting governor could arrogate to himself the exclusive will and right of God on who becomes Governor in 2019. We now ask, is he God? Since he is not God, we request that he should halt abusing his office and stop insulting Almighty God and henceforth, stop harassing the sensibility of the resilient Ogun people.
Millions of Ogun voters are much eager to exercise their God given right and constitutionally protected freedom to choose whosoever they desire to takeover Oke imosan in 2019 in a free and fair election. It is noteworthy to state that Gov Amosun himself is a major beneficiary of such democratic process as instituted by ex President Goodluck Jonathan led PDP government and nothing will subvert that process in 2019.
May we quickly remind General Amosun, in case he has lost touch with history, that it was the will of God that Otunba Gbenga Daniel would become the Governor in 2003-2011 despite Osoba's efforts to retain the seat; it was the will of God that himself would become Governor in 2011 and it is equally the will of God that Hon Oladipupo Kessington-Adebutu will be the next Governor of Ogun in 2019.
Amosun has compromised his integrity if he has any left in him. The unfortunate statement has portrayed him as a bully and fell short of the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammed(SAW). And if Amosun feels so desirous to bully at all cost, let him limit himself to his God-forsaken, heavenly-denounced and hunger-imposing APC. Or is it our fault that all the past Council Chairmen and Councilors who served under him dumped him and pitched their tent somewhere else?
May we urge the jittery General Amosun to concentrate on completing the numerous abandoned white elephants projects that litter the State from unwarranted model schools to unnecessary bridges, from abandoned two lane roads to needless expanded roads. It is in order too to ask him to treat Ogun workers and ever great Nigerian students as major stakeholders in Ogun project and not criminals and create jobs for the thousands of jobless youths in Ogun State.
