There is no palpable sign in any facet of government that epitomizes change in the culture of corruption and indiscipline that banes the country.
At our airports, the paramilitary personnel that dot Airline counters remain thesame corrupt, unpatriotic and inefficient bunch who see their uniforms as a leverage for begging, pilfering, extorting and inconveniencing of travelers who patronize our local farmers and artisans, by buying foodstuff and art works to take back with them.
These innately corrupt officials are so selfish and ignorant that they fail to understand how their unpatriotic acts undermine the economy of the country. By frustrating travelers, in their bid to extort money from them, they discourage further travelers who have the wherewithal and purchasing power to patronize these local foodstuff farmers and sellers, and artisans; thereby creating poverty in these class of citizens and undermining the economy thereto, because abroad one will be purchasing thesame foodstuff and artworks that are imported from Ghana!
It is sad, that in our country every government choses to talk of change, rather than walk the change! That PMB will preside over a government, that is so inefficient and ineffectual in curbing or tackling corruption, in actuality, leaves much to be desired. Indeed, History will certainly not judge him kindly, for the deceit wrought on the land, if the change is not made real. Therefore, I pray PMB will rise up to the occasion and turn the country around.
Our airports are window through, which the country is viewed by Nigerians and foreigners alike. There is urgent need to ensure that these paramilitary people at this airports are properly trained in courtesy and patriotism, so that their activities add value and not counterproductive to the country's interests.
Their tendency to rudeness, extortion and inconveniencing patriotic Nigerians that purchase foodstuff and artworks that their host countries have no problems with, letting into their countries, is discouraging and very unpatriotic, as it creates poverty among the citizens and undermines the economy.
Foodstuff: egusi, dry vegetables, dry fish, ground pepper are no contrabands, neither are artworks made by mallam considered artifacts.... Therefore it is unconscionable for these paramilitary personnel at the airports, to continue to inconvenience travelers by their brazen acts of illegalities that breed indiscipline at the airports, especially Murtala Mohammed International airport, Lagos!
