Reports coming in from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, venue of the CAF Presidential election, are indicating that long serving president, Issah Hayatou has been beaten by his rival Ahmad Ahmad.
Ahmad, who is from Madagascar, is said to have beaten the Cameroonian by 34 to 20 votes in the poll for the continent’s top football job, , which has just held in the Ethiopian capital a few moments ago.
The Madagascan, who campaigned for ‘change’, has thus brought the curtains down on the reign of the 71-year-old FIFA Vice President, who has been running the affairs of African football since 1988, when he was elected during the Nations Cup, which held in Morocco.
