In the early 90s before the June 12 elections their was a popular saying among the Christians then. Politics is a dirty game it's not for Christians.
After then 3 Christians came to Power all of them due to circumstances beyond the control of those who see Power as their exclusive right. These 3 Christians from the Shortest reign Shoneken to the Longest Obasanjo all faced various oppositions just because of the faith they profess.
It's very unfortunate we have Mega Pastors, Mega Preachers, Mega Churches, with Mega members all base in Lagos but these Mega Pastors can not influence the Politics of Lagos State where they are base not to talk of Nigeria. I thank God the events happening recently in Nigeria , they are beginning to shift from their comfort zones.
One Muslim in Ibadan said years ago that he didn’t know what’s wrong with Christians that we help them to occupy political positions and serve, refusing to capitalise on our population.
When God gave us a Christian we ridiculed him , we insulted him . The CAN President then received more bashing from Christians than Muslims. As far as I am concern Redeem Christian Church of God brought Buhari to Power. And it took Buhari to hit them hard before they realise it.
This story captured my attention. The GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has ordered members of the mission to register as card-carrying members of political parties of their choices.
Speaking at the 2017 Ministers’ Annual Thanksgiving on Saturday at the Redemption Camp, Kilometre 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State, Adeboye expressed worries over deliberate anti-Christian laws being churned out by the Federal Government to interfere in church affairs.
I really thank God for that pronouncement from Adeboye and not only RCCG all Christians , Catholics, Anglicans, Methodist, Baptist, ECWA, Living Faith, Kings Chapel, COCCIN etc should please hid to that call by Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
One strategy use very well by the devil is he doesn't want you to know he exist. But he is there and active. And that's how these Political Bigots operate . They will always tell you we are together United as one , do not Join Religion and Politics but believe me before elections are casted they have already told them in their places of worship if you vote an infidel you have become an infidel. And they vote according to what they are told in their places of worship , while the senseless Christians even if their Pastor manage to tell them, that Pastor will become the subject of discussion on FB. Some of the senseless Christians have begin to join the enemy to say Goodluck Jonathan and David Mark signed the Law. If they did why is Buhari implimenting it?
Lets go to America.
Evangelical Christians are 65% of American Population but they have been dormant for long. The Evangelical Christians made what America is today they where very active in Politics in the 60s, 70s and 80s. The block vote of evangelical Christians brought Jimmy Carter to power in 1976.
The evangelical vote was then effectively harnessed by the Reagan and Bush campaigns, which made evangelicals a permanent fixture of the Republican Party.
However, since the 1990s, the evangelical movement has fragmented into conservative and progressive wings; become ethnically broader with many Black, Hispanic, and Asian evangelical churches; and developed into various factions that do not play well with each other.
For many pundits, by the mid-noughties, the evangelicals were a spent force, the demographics had changed, America was less white and less religious. How wrong they were! The evangelicals were dormant, but not gone.
That is why the election of Donald Trump shook the whole world. The dormant Evangelical Christians who thought Democracy is not for them woke up from their sleep. Just like what is happening to Pastors in Nigeria today, the American legislation passed a law that any Pastor that spoke about Politics on his pulpit will lose his license and he will start paying tax. Other laws like legalising gay marriages and allowing Muslims to enter America in great numbers, opened the eyes of Christians in America. The country they worked very hard to built some anti Christians are taking the country away from them.
As a Christian I really thank God for bringing in Donald Trump. America is not only going to have an inauguration this weekend but a Christian Crusade at the Lincoln memorial.
What is the evangelical movement?
The evangelical movement emerged in the mid-twentieth century as a coalition of Christians who held to the fundamentals of the faith, but wanted to escape the anti-intellectualism and separation ethos of fundamentalist denominations.
Lets come back to Nigeria,
Speaking further, Pastor Adeboye disclosed that other fresh laws had been enacted by the government to ruffle the feathers of church in the country, with a particular target on RCCG.
The government has been showing increasing interest in church affairs, Adeboye said.
According to him, “Now there are fresh laws. We have a rough idea of what the law is about.
Continuing, he said: “some people believe that RCCG is becoming too influential and we’re going to be more influential.
When you get home, tell members to join a political party.
Join a party and become a card-carrying member of any party. Just join any party. We shall decide issues right from ward level.
If you are not active at ward level, you’ll do what they plan and say at the top.
Enrol in any party of your choice and have a card.
When holding meeting at ward level to choose delegates, be there.
This is a call for Christians to rise up in Nigeria and take our Place as leaders not servers just like that Muslims said in Ibadan many years ago.
My State Kaduna has been a crisis ridden state for a long time. I have captured the reason Kaduna will hardly see peace unless the state is divided in my write up. "Hausa - Fulani Intelligentsia & Southern Kaduna".
This week another Christian leader have come out strongly to speak against the killing of Christians in Kaduna. Bishop David Oyedepo reign curses on those people responsible for the killings in Southern Kaduna. I support 100% the curses pronounce and I add if they don't repent no matter how highly place they are in Nigeria they will begin to die 1 by 1 in Jesus Mighty Name.
Also speaking on Southern Kaduna Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka though not a religious figure has also blame religion on our problems in Nigeria, he accused Buhari and Elrufai on the way they are handling the Kaduna issue.
Wole Soyinka, spoke at the launch of the book, Religion and the Making of Nigeria, in Abuja, Thursday. His words, “Religion in the history of this continent has been a disastrous venture, a disaster in many zones and continues to be even so today. In this very nation in Southern Kaduna, over 800 souls were brutally extinguished suddenly while the issue of grazing lands versus farming is unquestionably part of the conflict, it is equally undeniable that religious differences have played crucial role in the conflict".
“And yet some weeks before the latest outrage, the governor of that state was quoted to have claimed that peace was nigh since he had sent funds to the earlier wave of killers and they had agreed to end their killing spree. “What astonished me was not the admission by the governor but the astonishment of others at such governmental response to atrocity. There was nothing new about it. Has appeasement to religious forces not become a Nigerian face of justice and equity? “First lethargy and then appeasement. Wasn’t Boko Haram’s Muhammed Yusuf not a beneficiary of appeasement in a similar fashion? “Southern Kaduna has reminded us once again that the monster always lying waiting to pounce under the guise of religion. “If you ask why General Buhari did not act fast enough when these events take place, which degrade us as human beings, well it is perhaps he has been waiting for the governor of that state to send money to the killers first for them to stop the killing.” Wole Soyinka Concluded.
Christianity is not a religion but it's about following in the steps of Jesus Christ. Any Christian who kill in the name of Christianity is on his own . Christianity is all about Love from the heart (God's Kind of Love) and not Love from the Head ( Love as the world shows it.)
In Conclusion , I will also like to repeat this to my brothers my people of Southern Kaduna people.
One Muslim in Ibadan said years ago that he didn’t know what’s wrong with Christians that we help them to occupy political positions and serve, refusing to capitalise on our population.
What that Muslims said in Ibadan describes my Southern Kaduna People very well. We don't believe in ourselves. A kind of stupid complex we have yet we are the most educated in the state and the entire Northwest. where was that unity among us when we voted in Yakowa when they didn't vote him?
My Bible said in everything we should give thanks. I am sorry about the 808 deads I can't return them back and you can't I commensurate with the families God will comfort you. What happen to us should unite us once again. Now we know our common enemy. Before we speak in confusion they divide us to rule us. If there is anything that unite us now after Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa's election is this Southern Kaduna Killings. Lets keep this unity upto 2019 and see what will happen. Let's hid the call of Pastor Enoch Adebayor. We are More than them in population if I need to remind you my people.
Drive through Central Market at any time of the day. You will notice no traffic you pass as if you are on Kaduna-Abuja express way, why? No activities in Kaduna North, they don't have population they only lie that they are more than us. Even if you see crowd of people find out they are waiting for buses to come to Kaduna South. Drive through Sabon Tasha or Narayi at anytime of the day you will think you are in Oshodi Market. Activities are going on, why we are more than them in Population.
Nobody should deceive you because they have the Governor that means they are more than you in population. Mayor of London is a Muslim that doesn't make Muslims more in Population than Christians in Britain.
After then 3 Christians came to Power all of them due to circumstances beyond the control of those who see Power as their exclusive right. These 3 Christians from the Shortest reign Shoneken to the Longest Obasanjo all faced various oppositions just because of the faith they profess.
